Just bought a Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm headset and i must say i'm impressed so far. What surprised me was that they sound almost the same as my Rokit 5 studio monitors. They seem sturdy and are comfortable to wear. Seems like a great buy for home studio, priced around $190. :)

looks promising, only low bass boosted and df like eq curve on the highs. but that bass notch around 70hz?

yes for good production headphones things are supposed to only sound good when they are "right". listen to lots of music (good and bad) with them to get accustomed to the sound. I experienced most headphones to get a tad more subbass and smoother highs with more depth during first 50-100 hours.

I haven't really used headphones a lot for mixing because it hasn't been a great success in the past using all kinds of crappy sets from $10-100, but with this set it feels totally different, now i really hear what's going on. Very happy with that. As the acoustics in my room probably isn't the best i think my rokits can't represent the sound as good as this set. That's my impression.

yes for mixing you need a set that is both correctly balanced on the freqs for the task, as well as having good (exaggerated!) space imaging...else you struggle in the mud. seems you found one that suits you well :)
