Ok here is summore :)

Ok say your looking for a sample in the list but you dont know exactly where it is. You open the sample window, so as to have a visual representation, then you drag across the sample bank list until you see the sample you're looking for.

This is possible in FT2 and makes finding stuff faster. However in NTK you have to click each sample bank before you can see or hear it .. so if you're looking for something within, say, the 20 first banks, you have to click click click click click 20 times..

And btw, extensive dragging and clicking over the sample bank area caused ntk to crash :(

I hope this explanation was clearer ..

anyway here is some more

for the edit mode issue :

1 : Highlight the pattern area ..

here is an example, I tried to keep the highlight color low, so as not to be too distracting .. maybe it's a little too low tho .. cos it's almost hard to see ;)

Obviously, it would function in a binary way, on/off .. in the exemple it may seem to blink, but thats because the animated gif is in a loop (this is valid for all the other examples) ..

2 : Highlight the frame

The entire framework would probably be annoying, and besides since the user can disable the framework there isn't much point. So i tried with one bar

3 : Highlight the top and status bar

This is my favourite, the top bar with the volume and the bottom status bar..

Layout issues :

When I tried using NTK, one of the first thing I noticed was that the layout was a bit confusing.. This is due to the buttons to different parts of the program being more or less spread out over the entire interface.

In this example, I tried to bring all the main buttons together.

I also some other missing things, like a horizontal scrollbard for the pattern etc ..

Other :

5 : fullscreen.

in a tracker, access to the pattern area is paramount. This option would save a lot of extra scrolling.

I dont mean extended mode, I think that the best would be like this :

Others ideas :

- Time display relative to the track .. it's impossible to tell at what lenght of time you are at in the track. You could also make it an click-alternate time/remaining time counter

- As I mentionned above, the pattern list (top left) needs buttons to navigate through it (or a scrollbar) and also buttons to increase and decrease the pattern number.

Well thats all i can think of ... for now :)

seeya!

opps. Try to explain when it excaclty crashes. With SampleEditor open ?

Yes.
Do you have a MouseWheel ? If yes try it over the InstrumentBox. Another way would be Shift and the Arrows, but I'll think about a repeating Button near the Box for changing the actual Sample ...

good ideas. But wouldn't it be enough when the "EditOn" Button flashes red when On ? You would notice it because it's flashing.

Hmm couldnt get it to crash again :P
But the first time the sampleeditor wasnt open if i remember right..

yeah! :) The mousewheel feature rocks :)
I had'nt tried it (ft2 habits.. ;) .. but I must say it's very usefull ..

ehm no I think that blinking could be distracting .. and besides the editon is so small :/
