Wow, this track is dope. Puts my work in progress to shame. Back to the drawing board for me.

My only concern is that the CPU seems a bit high for a Netbook? Did you test the benchmark song? Your entry should not pass the CPU % of the benchmark.

On my computer the benchmark is at 15% (1 CPU enabled on a Intel Core Duo 2). Your tune sometimes goes a bit above 19% (On your computer the benchmark tune will give different %, or course. The idea is to not go over the benchmark.)

Can anyone confirm that this tune plays on the Netbook?

Benchmark peaked at 13% on my cpu with 1 core enabled, the song doesn't go over that.
Hope it's under anyway ;)

Hi Custard it's Ron here from Indamixx. Great track, we all really like it over here.
I payed it on the Netbook and it only taxes out on the D&B sctions and barely at that.
If there is some way to mod that section to minimize the load then that would be a good thing.

Thank you

Ron

Cheers Ron,

I was going by the benchmark Bantai posted, I don't really have a netbook to hand. Since the deadline has been extended it gives me some time to optimise and remix a little bit.

Thanks for the heads up ;)

I've removed some devices from the last track of the benchmark. On my PC it's about 1% less. Better?

I was actually being serious, since it's my duty to offer a good benchmark. :) But in hindsight, yeah, 1% isn't really going to help that much.

Ahh sorry!

I think about 5% would be an acceptable margin, at least on my pc which is a quad core phenom @ 2.9ghz using 1 core on that benchmark it seems to be around 3-4% off of the original benchmark you posted according to Conner and Ron ;)

I loaded Renegade Jazz on Indamixx Pro (coming soon with Renoise) a low power CULV Intel chip and only had a few xruns. Around 2:20 when coming out of the jazz horn riff seems to be the biggest gotcha. I never got that far on the Netbook because of high CPU just as an FYI.

Thank you
Ron

nice oldschool sounding d&b track custard! Takes about 10-11% on my core 2 duo laptop, while the benchmark floats around 9% (using 2 cores).

So if I was to try a tune, am I supposed to play the benchmark track on only one core to get a fair assumption?

Yep. To keep as many variables the same, specifically multi-core overhead, it would be best to test with as many cores as the target system. The Indamixx Netbook has a single-core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 (TPD 2.5 Watt!) on board.

New version, should be within CPU limits now, considering it only uses 4% cpu on my sytstem.
Assuming it does, can I just delete the old song and upload a new one without creating a new topic thread? Bantai, anyone?

Hm, I'll need to add an "update song" menu item first. I've updated the song manually for now.

I dig this. I especially like the rubber bandy upright bass. The saxaphone is nice too. Nice mix.

My Benchmark at my PC is a 5% using single core at intel core 2 duo and your song peaks at 7.4%.

Benchmark is an estimate. Your mileage may vary. The guy who's judging the contest is Indamixx. His evaluation is the real one for benchmark.
