Vote pack, all XRNS songs in one zip:
Renoise_-_Efficient_Music_Compo.zip

Please vote for ALL the compo songs. Because there are a lot of songs, there's a 2 weeks voting period.

How to vote?

1) Go to the compo site: http://www.renoise.c...tions/indamixx/

2) If necessary - Sign In / Register

3) Once you are logged into the compo site: drag the songs from the list into the vote box below it.

Each song item can be expanded for details and in most cases you'll get a MP3 preview.

4) Sort the songs in the vote box through drag 'n drop: higher on the list means you like the song better than the ones below it.

5) Don't forget to regularly save your votes! If your list isn't complete or you changed your mind, you can come back later and resubmit your votes.

You can vote until 8 November.

Cheating is futile - fraudulent votes are discarded and your song will be disqualified

Is it possible to know how much effective is our vote in comparison to those of Indamixx and CDM?

Well.... 45 songs.... i guess the number one gets 45 points and the last song gets 1 point , something like that.... count up all the points and you will have a winner.
Assuming everybody votes for all 45 songs....
There might also be some songs that get no votes at all...
Vv....

And add a magic algorithm because some people have already tried cheating by creating dummy accounts or having people vote only for them...

So it's possible not to vote for a specific song so even participants can vote or you prefer us not to vote?

If it's working as it should, participants are unable to vote for their own songs. That's good enough for me, I'm trusting the participants won't vote strategically but musically. Although the recent cheating attempts makes me wonder if I should remain happily naive!

I hope that is just to test the system and not to win.....
Else our next Beatbattle will be for the honor and no other prizes (other than perhaps a spot in the demo-songs list).

I don't know, creating a ton of dummy accounts to vote on his own song doesn't sound like a fun 'test'.

Is it possible to know how much effective is our vote in comparison to those of Indamixx and CDM?

Grand Prize: Public votes count for 1/3rd.

USB sticks: Public votes count for 100%

The Renoise license will be given away by CDM.

No, I thought about it, but I think that tends to cause strategic votes.

It's an experiment. Do you like the drag 'n drop system better than BB5's numeric rating system?

yes i always love drag and drop.. ;]

ok, since you asked, perhaps it would be more handy if the drop box was on the right of the song list.. instead of under it.. ? to me it's a bit annoying to have to drag to the bottom of page.. wait till its there.. then wait till the page autoscrolls until you can actually see the drop box. i understand if the list was less long this wouldn't be much of a problem..

some killer to0ns in there , wow!!

:drummer:

I highly prefer the numeric rating system. IMHO the target of the new drag and drop system is just choosing a winner, not evaluating the entries. In this system you can say that I like a certain song better than the other, but not how much.

And I still don't understand how the voting can be just when you are able to sort just a number of tracks, and not all of them?

edit: I builded up a rating system of 100 points for myself, rated the songs, sorted them in ms excel and then sorted them in the compo page. There are many songs which have very close ratings in my list, but I had to sort them anyway.

The numeric system was in many cases flawed as it gave a false sense of accuracy. Imagine you listen to one track, you give it 100 points. A next song is even better: you'd have to re-adjust the scale and edit all previous ratings. Another problem is that the initial mental image one has of a scale tends to become distorted after a period of time. Similarly, everyone uses a different scale. For example, in popular media, everything below 6 is moot, but upwards of 6 behaves like an exponential curve. Sometimes it seems the range from 90 to 100 is a complete scale by itself!

So I decided to cut to the chase: most of the time one uses the numeric ratings to define its relative position, so why not leave the conversion to a number out? Though aware of the fact that the drag and drop system forfeits absolute ratings, it seemed appropriate for the theme of the compo.

And I still don't understand how the voting can be just when you are able to sort just a number of tracks, and not all of them?

You can't vote for your own song, but otherwise you should be able to sort all songs. Please explain what you mean.

i've never done any of the compos before so i have no idea what it was like in the past, but i must say that the system is very nice and easy to work with. my only complaint is one that was brought up further up and that is dragging the songs to the bottom of the screen. i have to drag the songs and then wiggle my mouse around at the bottom of the screen until it advances far enough down to drop the songs. it's not really that bad, but if there were some way to avoid that (like their suggestion of putting them side-by-side) in the future i think you have yourself a perfect system :)
