Renoise Dubstep Producers

Anyone fancy collabing on a track?

Drop me an email if you do: jikaymusic@aol.com :)

Depending on what kind of dubstep are you interested in.
Could you please give some examples maybe? :)

Iā€™ve been making more old style stuff recentlyā€¦ El-B / Horsepower stuff like that.

Iā€™d happily make some dirty jump up too if someoneā€™s up for that.

I am not skilled enough and all my hard test are still forward producing the woo woo wowowow soundā€¦

why dont you make some tutorial or share a couple of ā€œtemplateā€?

thanks!

rot

Not a dubstep producer but would be willing to give a colab a goā€¦

hhmmmā€¦this is my first try on dubstep :walkman:

A tutorial for making dubstep in renoise? Possibly!

What kinda thing you thinking?

E-mail replied to! That tune is sick mate.

Nice man, pretty different!

Anything really. Need a bit of a kick up the ass to get me to pull my finger out and have colabs are good for this in the past ;)

Yes please!! Would love a tutorial for something like the future garage tune in this thread or any Horsepower type stuff (anyone hear the Benny Ill set on N-Types Christmas Rinse.fm, it was SO good).

that`s what i call a perfect tutorial :D
thanks kaneel!

Dont write dubstep, but incorporate it into your music.
Thereā€™s so much genre music, and itā€™s all so throw away.
Why waste time perfecting the formula of dubstep so you can sound like every other sucker out there.
Your all individual human beings with huge eclectic musical influences built throughout your entire lifeā€¦and you want to write dubstep??
does it really express you?
Go buy a dubstep sample CD. Thatā€™s how easy it is.

bowowowowow woof

EDIT: i realise this is a pointless rant on a topic that doesnt invite debateā€¦but it still stands for me.

The important thing about dubstep that a lot of people donā€™t realise, is that unlike drum & bass, grime etc.

there is no formula for dubstep!!

just keep it roughly 140 bpm, and make sure thereā€™s plenty of sub bass, and you can call it ā€˜dubstepā€™.

Best advice I can give.

genreā€™s are all about formulasā€¦stray too far and your not in the genre any moreā€¦
it is MUSIC that has no formula.

There IS a wobble formula:

DUBSTEP BASS FOR DUMMIES IN RENOISE:

  • Square/Saw/Pulse

  • Wet distortion, lots of hightone

  • Lowpass/lowshelf filter

  • LFO on filter between 20/30Hz to 600/800Hz

  • Draw the curve of your wobble in LFO

  • Automate LFO frequency in automation editor

  • EQ (use ears and good taste)

  • Send track to SUB, keep source

  • Send track to MID, mute source

  • In sendtrack SUB, lowpass/lowshelf filter, cutoff at around 600Hz

  • Stereo expander, set to mono

  • EQ

  • In sendtrack MID, highpass/highshelf filter, cutoff at around 600Hz

  • Chorus, first parameter 2.500, second 40%, third -35%, the rest I donā€™t care

  • EQ

  • Delay/Reverb according to taste, but restrain thyself

This is pretty damn global, I knowā€¦ but itā€™s a start if you have NO clue. Also, if you have NO clue, you can either check out Jong Belegen in your Renoise demo folder, or forget dubstep and get into breakcore.

wobbly tunes are only the very tip of the dubstep icebergā€¦

check out this mix by DJG, brilliantly showcases the radically different, ā€˜deeperā€™ side of dubstep

There IS a formula for deepstep (deep dubstep)

  • Make a wobble
  • Toss it in a well

I just did this one a few days ago. :yeah:

I donā€™t know what dubstep is, but I know what wobbles areā€¦thatā€™s what my table does when Iā€™m typing. If I put that into a tuneā€¦does I has dubstep? :)

forget about dubstep, it is all about brostep now lol.

i like the wobble in hawaiian drummers signature :dribble:
