Groove - Does It Work At All?

I can’t seem to get the groove function (in song properties) to work at all … it just doesn’t do anything, regardless of how I adjust the pattern signature (1/4th or 1/8th) … I can’t find any setting that makes any audible difference whatsoever. What am I doing wrong?

I’m using Speed=3, since I need 8 steps per beat for drum fills and stuff - maybe the groove function was designed to work only with 6 steps per beat?

The groove used to be a whole lot better,
prior to they changed it.
(i think it was in 1.2x)
The groove dosn’t seem to have much effekt when using speed 3 or 4 ,
so my recomendation is using the old ft trick speed changes.
example:

normal track
01 c-4 f003 <–speed command
02 — - - - -
03 f-4 f003
04 — - - - -
05 c-4 f003
06 — - - - -
07 f-4 f003
08 — - - - -

Speed changes (groove/swing/whatever)

01 c-4 f004
02 — - - - -
03 f-4 f002
04 — - - - -
05 c-4 f004
06 — - - - -
07 f-4 f002
08 — - - - -

This produces a mild groove with the average speed of 3.
For bigger grooves just increase the difrence between the high low speed.

…and of course you can also set the BPM in a similar manner instead of the speed to get more control over the amount of groove.

Hey, what about the ability to change the groove settings also directly in the patterneditor??? I mentioned this idea aeons before, but nobody said somethin´ sniff

I think the groove thingie is way down on the todo list :(
Maybe it will get better with the update in internal timing resolution ?
