Electronic Spacecowboy

i finished that song a few weeks ago, although it took quite a while until it got released on the netlabel “language lab” together with another tune of a friend of mine going by the name of “kowloon” aka sierra/dtn.
check the entire release at www.llab.org or directly download that spacey cowboy tune of mine over here. i also made a post in the renoise song section, where i categorized it as “trip hop”, although i’m not really sure about that, since i really have problems pushing this into a style-drawer.

hope somebody can dig this…

btw, nice to see the song forum is back again!

nice one keith! this is quite far from the other songs ive heard from you. it sounds more happy, less dramatic:D
i love the guitar and the synth. is this vst or recorded? (i really cant tell.)

anyways, this is really great work man. congrats!
:)

thanks for the feedback, sewen - very much appreciated as it is pretty rare these days.
nothing is pre-recorded in that tune, 90% of what you hear are various VST instruments. the lead guitar is generated by “ReFX Slayer”, for example.

really glad you liked it, thanks again!

Really nice song…

Sewen is right: it sounds happy!!

Keith: are you the author of “anxiety express”?? It was an old ft2 module and the first song I listened to played by a tracker… That’s how I discovered the tracking world and if now I’m into this, it’s also for that song.

It’s one of the few xm files I still have in my hard disk and it has been a big source for using FX techniques… So if you are its author: THANK YOU!!!

----------------------------------- :) :)

@mekkah
yes, that .xm you’re talking about was written by me back in 1997, when ft2 still amazed me with its functionality and 180BPM was the way to go for me
glad to hear that you could learn this or that by that tune.
it’s quite a pitty releasing opensource music has become oldfashioned and uncommon; but i guess there’s hardly any way to overcome this with all the plugins and sometimes even hardware gear being used in nowadays productions.

and i really didn’t know that mr. spacecowboy is sounding happy - imo it is changing its mood throughout the song a few times, don’t you think?

however, thanks for the feedback, mekkah! :)

A masterpiece as always :)
Really spacey and somewhere a ´lil retro country feeling.
Drums are perfect. Many good events!!!
The best part for me starts somewhere at 4:34. Really cool classical strings. Nice Nice Nice ;)

And I also agree. This song is more happiness B)

Hi Keith!
That old song has a soul I think so don’t write wrong things about it! ;) I listened it some days ago and I’ve wondered with it (as about 1997 when I heard it first), unless it’s written within the old Fasttracker II. Anyway, who cares? Music must be built from senses, cue, spirit, personal obscurities, questions, etg., you shouldn’t use filters and/or VSTis, VSTs to express your senses, isn’t? ;)
And you can do this, man! ;)
So I can feel the same that I felt in 1994-1996 in the hardcore/rave discos, there is everything in ‘Anxiety Express’. This is my favourite in its style, I never heard better there, man! :D
Bye, Semmiho

Keith, this song is awesome, one of the best i’ve heard made on renoise! Really funky, plus, it’s got alot of variation, different parts really that are very different but still as able to relate to one another :D

Really digg the guitars… i’m off to look for refx slayer now hehe

keep it up!
