Hi.. I had this setup:
Ableton Live (ReWire Master)
Renoise (ReWire Slave)

Tune was playing, plugged in a C-Media USB Device (Mono USB audio recording device)
Renoise promptly died and wrecked everything. Luckily I had been saving like a nutter before thinking to plug in the device. Renoise crashing made Live unstable and I had to restart everything, after which the C-Media USB Device (Mono) worked quite nicely.

Could Renoise be made to at least ignore the (unsupported on OSX) Mono USB Devices, instead of just dying on me?

Or perhaps it could be a fine reason to start implementing mono device support.

I've been over and over this with Taktik, it's not a high priority. Mono device support works on Windows, but not on OSX.

Of course it'd be lovely to get Mono Device support for 2.7 :panic: .. However..

esaruoho: could you please post the Renoise (crash) logs from this session as well? Unsupported or not, plugging in such devices should of course never cause crashes. I wonder though why this happens at all when Renoise runs as ReWire slave. Are you sure its not Ableton which crashed down? The logs hopefully give us some more hints. I'll also try to test this here.

Ableton worked fine, Renoise became completely unresponsive. I can resend you my 2.6beta testing crashes of the same thing, from Oct2010 ;)

So I guess this thread changed mid-step to "When will Renoise(OSX) support Mono Recording Devices" (as per our email correspondence Oct 11th 2010) :)

No, unfortunately not. We only fixed the crash that happened when inserting a new audio device while running as ReWire slave.
