shutting off samples

i just recently had to re download renoise-somehow i lost a feature i had at first-when i load a sample in track one then a diff sample right after it-the 2nd would shut off the first instantly-somehow i lost that feature must be i clicked on something by accident that made that work the first time

If you accidentally toggle the “NNA” option from Cut to Note-Off or Continue, you don’t need to redownload Renoise for that the next time, simply change it back to “Cut”

hmm this doesnt seem to be working…it looks like its the right tutorial…if i remember on my old renoise i didnt have to do that on every intsrument it was just always happening by it self…but even with messing with this’cut’ in NNA its not working …do u think another feature has to be activated also?

Multi-sampled instrument? right-click on the sample box (lower left) and “select all” then set the NNA to whatever you want for all the samples at once.

well im going to put a couple samples in only track one…im looking for this sample box in the lower left

this nna cut off seems like its exactly the problem…doesnt seem to work though

If you have only 1 note playing per track/note column (you can have up to 8 note columns per track) you can simply put a 00 in the volume wherever you want to cut the note. With default settings, the volume parameters are green, and empty volume parameters are two (green) dots.

To clarify a few things (for anybody struggling with this) : NNA means “New Note Action” → what to execute when a new note will be triggered in the same note-column, which is not the same as a track!
If you have multiple samples in the same instrument, make sure you have set the NNA for all samples in the instrument. Delt’s tip was the way to go and change this value for all samples in one click.

Another thing:It does not work for plugins. If plugins provide for a cut action, you should be able to configure this inside the plugin itself, but the host has no more power than the ability to send specific parameters to the plugin required to trigger or enable such feature if the plugin supports it.

Let’s end all this confusion.

Can you please upload a small example song that demonstrates the problem you’re having?

Share your .XRNS file with us. Let us see/hear the broken sample behaviour for ourselves. Then someone can probably easily tell you how to fix it once and for all.

…i understand the idea of this NNA -in the instrument section…couldnt find where to turn them ‘all’ off in one click though… the .XRNS isnt loading for some reason but

ive made some progress messing around-if i put one instrument in track one then audition another after it-it doesnt cut them out…if i record it- it doesnt cutout the first- until i stop and slide the 2nd sample under the first manually then it does cut it out or shut off it off…i just cant seem to do when auditioning or when recording on the fly…only when i slide it over manually

hi there still messing with this thing…i want to upload a file but its too big…but its only got 2 small samples in it
