Occasionally I see some plugexpert music posts on renoise’s facebook page
Imho the were the most talented users amongst the community .

It’s the economy, everyone has to work more hours so they can’t be doing awesome stuff in Renoise and posting in here.

they are the most talented because they don’t waste time on the Internet :D

I hope the guys are still making and enjoying music. Thankfully we still see dBlue and Conner_bw :)

I’m very busy teaching my daughter how to make music; it’s not that easy tbh.

I realize he first posted this thread back in 2014… Renoise forever!

I didn’t watch much TV after the 80s, had online access in the late 80s already, used trackers on the Atari, and played MMOs when most people didn’t even have an email address. Lately, I have started to write with fountain pens and draw with pencils and ink, and I picked up traditional musical instruments without pickups. I also bought once again more paper books than ebooks in the past couple years! I think I’m probably not the only one who feels a desire for more diversity instead of everything being centered around the computer.

But that aside, I think computers are here to stay, though I believe desktop systems are past their hay days. Large phones (best parts of tablets and phones) will increasingly be people’s “personal computer”. Light laptops I think will have their place until voice-to-text is better (just can’t type well on a phone, though it works surprisingly well on an iPad without external keyboard).

Bigger computers are already more niche and for work. TVs are still around, you know. :stuck_out_tongue: (I don’t have one, though!)

Along with desktops becoming less relevant due to portability mostly, even though for power and screen real estate they still have a future, the other related thing about AI making music would mean music made humanly will slowly lose relevance as machines and algorithms will continue to become more advanced and thus generated instrumental and pop music will be a corporate dream as these entities will be able to literally manufacture both the image and the music at the click of a button like a video game where you can compile the band member characteristics and instruments and genre and press play. Easy money from the uninitiated public who are mostly concerned with entertainment consumption. A large faction of the populace do not even practice or master an instrument even if they like to listen to music.

Humans will get obsolete in near future. I however am skeptical that humans have any purpose really so in some ways we making ourselves redundant seems the best way to prove this. Like in the matrix movies once knowledge and skill becomes available as a download that can be mounted, this whole ruckus of learning something for life will be a thing of the past. We are reaching the matrix future in many ways eerily close. As pollution levels rise and water crisis becomes imminent, the real world will be a distopia. Economic crisis and currency crash already look feasible. Also because the populace don’t want to really know or solve anything because they are comfortable and entertainment oriented, the solution will never come from the majority. In fact rampant overgrowth of population by the ‘majority’ or the masses in various countries is the primary problem and not a part of the solution. According to the Theory of Demographic Transition the population will reach tipping point in 2100 with 15 billion people on the planet and the Total Fertility Rate will come down to a halt at 0, meaning no one will be able to give birth anymore due to a natural measure or because there won’t be any incentive left or resources left either to continue breeding. Scary times indeed. So regardless of whether humans survive or not in the near future, us being redundant is definitely part of the future.

Originality and creativity can be emulated so then what else can we really contribute. As long as we cannot make another human being inside a factory we would still have our body and biology to contribute. However if that is also automated and cracked then we are really just biological machines that are doomed to self destruction. Only our software remains then, not the brain features and not the body features, but something that gives life to begin with, like a BIOS module that ensures the hardware and OS both can even start to function. However in future if we have also cracked where and how the soul comes from and how it also can be manufactured, then the real pain of being human will be revealed. Humans will be able to create another human being inside a factory complete with soul, mind and body all three. At that point we will think we are gods and the people who will control that kind of technology will truly rule the world in terms of whatever is left of it.

In fact who knows maybe something like this already happened in the past and we are the ones who are the remnants of the earlier failure. The architects of that earlier system destroyed it seeing that it led to massive destruction of Earth resources and overt political control, humans being humans, it seems that is what we are mostly good at. Because we are all factory made, with our ancestors from a few generations earlier, we don’t remember anything really as to where we came from etc, our roots and our genetics were tampered with at the factory eons ago and that is why we are slow and prone to failure and bad decisions. We as humans do not even know where we are from and who made us and all that.

Music is just one aspect of life, possibly the best one. But humanity itself triumphs everything that we do, once we lost that essence and are like sheep without their former potential or glory and with us going towards a dystopia, everything seems to be futile in the end.

what happened to iTalien? Props on the no-sample song and the strums

time to grow a new staff?

its sad then, that the old giants cannot raise the new generation due to absence :frowning:

In the end of the day its all about the music & creativity, of those who are already missed in this thread; that was just a different time on these forums…after them came others & many others following. Times change like seasons change, like music changes…yet, in the end - its just about the music.

Summer ends, nay, autumn must surely come…he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and the fullness of the moon upon every night
