Hi everyone, I thought I’d share my first mod in years, this is a Work In Progress and needs to be developed more, but I like what I have done so far, so would like to share.
This is the first time I’ve used a tracker in years, initially I used OctaMED V4 on the Amiga, upgrading computers and using Soundstudio on the Amiga until the realease of the PC version.
I then moved onto Acid Pro (3), Reason, and the settled with Cubase for a while.
However, I have missed tracking, I’ve had Renoise since 1.8 (subscription ran out at 2.8.0), but I never really used it.
After downloading the demo for renoise 3, I’ve decided to go back to tracking, just learning all functions and commands, but I feel the freedom of my music writing coming out again.
I’ve decided to try and use samples only so I can share my mods so they should play on anyones computer, where I do use VSTi’s, I render them as a sample and load them back into renoise.
Please enjoy my music, this is the first of many to come.
**** EDIT **** I’ve now completed the mod, so the above link is now for the final version.
I’ve decided to try and use samples only so I can share my mods so they should play on anyones computer, where I do use VSTi’s, I render them as a sample and load them back into renoise.
Thats the right way to do it if everything is rendered to samples, everything stay in one file for life!
Is that really important? I’m Still a big fan of the mix culture, too.
objectively spoken, the originality and artistical purity of any piece of art will decline the higher the amount of content, that has not been created by thenominal artist.
this can be regarded from a legal or ideologic point of view, whereas only the latter would apply here of course.
hm, I somewhat seem to miss the point. Its OK if an artist is getting paid, if that was the question. The copyright thing doesnt matter in this case, because hes using erverything hrs using is just like youd do it with an instrument and a multi track recorder. Back in the 90s we didnt care about things like copyright and even mash ups made it into albums. We stole it and dealt it. The Stars did always get there money. You may want to have a look at (Simon) Bomb Da Bass. He made his first number one without getting paid for it, although everyone else around made a huge amount of money from Beat Dis.
Thanks guys for checking my mod out and all the comments, as for using loops, I very rarely use instrument loops, but I don’t see the problem to be honest, it’s not the main thing you listen to when it is playing, it’s just in there to fill out the mix a little.
I have finally finished the track you can listen to it on soundcloud here:https://soundcloud.com/filf/shake-it-back-on-track-filf
