SEQUENCE: custom step sequencer controlling renoise and visuals (WIP)

Hi,

I’ve been working on a step sequencer in max that I want to use for both composition and performance. So it offers both precise control and huge macros. The whole thing has its own clock and simply triggers XRNIs in Renoise!

You can see and hear a version of it here:

The output of the sequencer is also directly mapped to parameters controlling the visuals in Jitter. I find using this direct control more appropriate than having the visuals react to the sound. It’s cleaner and it lets me do exactly what I want. The idea is that throughout the performance, each pattern can have it’s own custom mapping in order to make the performance more dynamic. Here is a more recent demo with the visuals:

Of course, doing all this is a lot of work. I also shot and processed the videos that I use as a texture. It’s not as polished as I want it to be but I like to document my progress so… here you go! I hope you enjoy.

Been watching your glitch videos with interest. This takes it to a whole new level :yeah:

Amazing work man, nice to see another renoiser using Max

I really need to get up to scratch on Jitter though, those visuals are sweet!

Fascinating stuff, love both the videos for different reasons.

:walkman: thumbs up.

Visuals are great, would love to see this on a big screen/wall in a club
