Trouble registering 32bit plugins with renoise 64bit

Hello

This is probably a newbee question.

I am having trouble registering my 32bit vst instruments when I use Renoise 64bit (3.0). By registering I mean that I enter serial keys and user namein order to open up the paid full versions of the vst plugins.

I have disabled sandboxing around 32bit vst plugins but that did not help.

In three of my 32bit plugins the register dialog is shown and I can enter characters, but nothing happens when clicking Enter Key.

In one of my 32bit plugins the register dialog is not shown at all.

Can I install both Renoise 3 64bit and 32bit without any file conflicts?

Do theregister function work with the 32bit plugins with Renoise 32bit?

Hmm. I just checked. I am having the exact same problemwhen trying to register three of these four vstinstruments when usingCubase 7.5. So I guess this is a vstbridge ussue, and vstbridge probably do not allow bridges plugins to access the internet. Too bad. I dont have any 32bit daws.

Any suggestions?

Best regards

Max

Windows 8.1 64bit, Renoise 3 64bit.

I have disabled sandboxing around 32bit vst plugins but that did not help.

32-bit plugins will always be sandboxed in 64-bit Renoise, and vice versa.

Can I install both Renoise 3 64bit and 32bit without any file conflicts?

You can have both versions installed and it shouldn’t cause you any problems at all. Just take care with the file associations, as installing one version may replace the other, but you can of course always fix them later quite easily.

If you’re mostly using 32-bit plugins anyway, then you’re probably better off with the 32-bit version of Renoise, as this will avoid the need for sandboxing in the first place. Just depends on what you plan to do, I guess.

Generally speaking, you should not have any problems when using the plugin in its native form, so going with 32-bit Renoise may help there.

You may also find that it’s necessary to run Renoise with administrator permissions in order to register the plugin. Right click on Renoise’s icon and choose ‘Run as administrator’.

Thank you for your help.

I tried “Run as adminstrator” and that worked with one of the plugins that I could not register before. Great!

I just found out that theotherthree of my 32bit vst plugins with registering issues, have no sound at all when used withrenoise 64bit, so it makes no sense registering them anyway, unless I want to switch between renoise 32bit and renoise 64bit, and I dont see that happen.

I have chosen to use 64bit vst plugins whenever they exist so the majority of my plugins are 64bit.

You win some and you loose some.

Concerning sandboxing, does the checkbox in preferencesmean the option of sandboxing 64bit plugins in renoise 64bit? so renoise doesnot crash if a 64bit plugin crashes? Great feature!

Renoise was a great daw 10 years ago, but it keep getting better and better.
