Signal Follower Bass Ducking Trouble

So this is what I have set up:

-Signal Follower on my kick.

-Destination set to my bass, mixer, volume.

-Dest.Min to max

-Dest,Max to min

-Dest, Off at 0%.

-Attack and Release at 0, Sensitivity at Max

Everything else default.

My trouble is that it’s hardly moving the volume on my bass at all to the point where you can’t hear much of a difference. I want to get a decent pulse but haven’t had any luck. I’ve followed youtube tutorials but can’t get the same results? Could it be an issue with the bass, not the signal follower?

Overall I just want the volume to duck much further than it does.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Sensitivity at Max

Try to reset the sensitivity back to 50% instead. I think you’ll find it’s much more responsive there.

There’s a ducking example in Renoise’s main menu: Help > Tutorial and Demo Songs

There’s also another simple example posted by me a while ago here:

Try setting the sensitivity so that the left hand volume meter is hitting somewhere near the to top of its range. Then increase the release.

Awesome the sensitivity was the issue! Thanks for the help!

I know this is not what you wanted to know, but it may be good to know that if you add a gainer in the channel that needs to do the ducking you can control it with the signal follower. This way you can still freely use your mixers overall volume for your bass
