how do i get .xrnl files to load into redux?

I downloaded “com.renoise.elements.xrnl” but cant get it to load in redux demo.

Im putting it in the documents-renoise-userlibrary folder…sorry for the noob queston, any help?

you need to drag the file onto the plugun window.

How about with mac?

Same thing. Drag and drop the XRNL file onto the Redux UI.

If this does not work for you, could you give us a few more details in which host this does not work and f it’s the AU or VST?

Maybe a support of libs via disk browser, too, would be simplify things, since drag’n’drop on OSX 10.9 in combination with vet-window-auto-hide and renoise-window-auto-hide can be quite difficult  I had to 1. unfocus renoise 2. drag lib on the renoise icon in the dock 3. choose there the vst window while holding down lmb 4. drag it on the redux window

Hm, so I drag’n’dropped the Elements XRNL straight from the desktop onto Redux, it says it installs it, but still I can’t find it anywhere, neither in Redux nor in the file system (except desktop of course). It works fine with the Djeroek and Psudaform packs, i.e. I find them in new instances of Redux. (But where are they in the file system?)

When I try it again, it even says the Elements pack is already installed and gives me a chance to re-install. Is it identical to the Bundled Content?

Win7 64-bit, Redux 1.0.0 64-bit VST (licensed), Reaper 4.78 64-bit.

It’s installed, but they’re multi-sample ‘elements’ for you to work with rather than full instruments, so you’ll find them in the Keyzones section.

where are they in the file system?

Right-click on anything in the File Browser and select “Reveal in Explorer” to find it.

But where are they in the file system?

Your installed libraries can be found in your Windows Documents folder.

C:\Users<your_name_here>\Documents\Renoise\

Thx Achenar, yeah, but the problem is I can’t find anything from the Elements pack in Redux. I think I got it, see below, thx!

Ok, it’s in there, so it installed correctly.

even though

Edit:
Oh, maybe now I get Achenar’s first sentence!
I can use the Redux disk browser to navigate to the directory dblue told me, and with “Other” I find those sfz files.
Yeah, this works.
I thought they are presets just like the other packs.

I was referring to the separate load menu available for each section of Redux, found at the top right corner of their toolbars. Each loads in different file types depending on which one you’re currently in.

Oh! Thx man, didn’t notice…

It’s pretty easy to overlook. I’ve promoted it to its own section in the ‘Loading/Saving Files’ part of the manual, so it stands out more.

I’d agree that it’s not always obvious where & what got installed with a pack.
I think the next version of Redux could refine it’s approach slightly.

  • Always show pack in preset browser (even a non-instrument one like Elements)
  • Use tooltip to show quick stats - for example, Elements would show “259 Multi-samples”
  • Allow uninstalling pack via right-click menu

I thought they are presets just like the other packs.

Djeroek’s pack also contains a pretty awesome selection of samples and other stuff. Highly recommended!
