Note Volume Gradual Decline

Why doesn’t this make a notes volume gradually decline? see image

Because you are setting the volume per line as an absolute value.

Using these commands instead will apply the volume on a tick basis, for a more smooth result:

Ixx - Fade Volume In

Oxx - Fade Volume Out

Btw: if you are using a plugin, setting the volume will only work if the plugin supports polyphonic aftertouch.

And relative commands are not (yet) supported for plugins. One thing at a time

Yes I’m using the Synth1 VST and it appears it does not support polyphonic aftertouch. Maybe it does and I just don’t know how to enable it on the Snyth1. Should I turn on the Unison and AUTO-portamento buttons?

Alternatively, I’m using an envelope on the gainer to raise and lower volumes but this gets tedious. Chime in if there’s an easier way.

Too bad Ixx Oxx dont work for smooth aftertouch.

Here’s a link to an interesting mind map showing devices, including synths, that support (receive) polyphonic aftertouch: https://www.mindmeister.com/348391598/controllers-and-synths-that-support-polyphonic-aftertouch All are commercial and have demos available but I’m not sure if PAT is enabled in the demo versions. Personally, I use the U-He synths, but the Aalto has a wonderful sound as well and costs a bit less for those on a budget: http://madronalabs.com/products/aalto If you’re interested, the KVR folks did an OSC challenge for the Aalto if you’d like to check out some of it’s sounds: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/osc-51-aalto

I’m not affiliated with Madrona Labs, I just like their synth.

Cheers.
