Reward Circuit - You Are Two

So after years of playing loops and snippets for friends, and then letting dozens of them collect virtual dust in a folder on my computer, I’ve finally created a SoundCloud account. But I thought it would be fitting to start with something brand new (to me), so the track that I posted was made this weekend.

Well done track! Great music, great lyrics which reminds me of Fight club but written by Isaac Asimov :3 Keep it on!

Stunning work with the vocals, leads and melody. I love it!

Woo, comments! Thanks guys, I really appreciate people listening, and I’ll be pushing myself to create and post more.

Nice!

Wow, imo a really solid if not perfect mix. I like this kind of chilling progressive sound. Only the voice… Sounds kind of too silly to me

sweet kraftwerkish track

your kick could be more solid with some NY Compression and sidechain (env follower to gain)

this is funky. nice chunky drums. what vocoder are you using? could be a bit cheesy with the vocoder and arps… probably going for that retro vibe though

Ha, I can’t believe this is still getting comments. Thank you very much.

I might as well share a little backstory here, since I’m bored. So, basically I’ve been a registered Renoise owner for over 7 years, and I always envisioned myself posting a lot of fast, insane chopped-up Amen 8-bit drill/break-blah blah blah music on this forum. Unfortunately I got struck by the ol’ writer’s block/self-doubt and in 7 years I completed about… 2 whole tracks. Heh. So, at one point I decided to start over with a different platform, and bought Propellerhead Reason. So this whole retro-dance thing is totally not what I “expected” to make, it’s kind of just what came out of me and my friends urged me to make a SoundCloud page.

You never know what music will inspire you, what will come out of you, or what software will click with you. Sometimes the music has a mind of its own.

As for the “vocoder”, it’s actually the VST instrument Chipspeech by Plogue. I had bought it less than an hour before I made this track, I wouldn’t understand the lyrics if I didn’t write them myself, and I have since accidentally deleted the patches I made. But it was fun!

I do find it psychologically fascinating though… how I (or anyone creative) can recreationally listen to ridiculous stuff like death metal, or Sinister Souls/Noisia, or Squarepusher/Snares, or watch David Lynch, but then when it’s time to create something, your brain composes a cheesy robot pop song. Anyway, thanks for listening. Hopefully I’ll finish something else soon.
