Duplex Launchpad / Keyboard mode

Hi

Am I missing something - if I go into Keyboard mode should it not be playing the selected instrument, or do I need to set the Input in the MIDI tab as well?

Also, sometimes the connection drops to the Launchpad and I have to restart both Launchpad S and Renoise. Anyone else experienced that?

thanks

By default, the Duplex Keyboard is following the selected instrument.

If you want something else, click on ‘Settings’, then the keyboard application, and specify a “Target instr.” and/or “Target track”.

It’s a bit “funny” though, as the Keyboard will then remember this choice between sessions - always choosing “Instrument #7” (or whatever number you had selected).

It would make more sense for the application to remember this on a per-song basis - a great feature for the next update, I guess.

About the connectivity problems, I’m not sure what could be the cause.

Have you checked that the cable is OK and standard (non-Duplex) operation is fine?

When I have the default settings, the Launchpad events aren’t triggering the selected instrument.

I have MIDI prefs turned off, and no Input set in the MIDI tab

cheers

Have you enabled the OSC server in Renoise? Preferences > OSC (default settings are UPD, port 8000)

Keyboard is using the internal OSC server to trigger notes, and will prompt you to set this up, but only the first time you run the application.

Also, have you (double-)checked if the Keyboard is set to play a specific instrument (settings -> Target Instr.) ?

It was the OSC not switched on – thanks so much! I don’t recall it asking me to switch on OSC when I installed it a while back… Probably I ignored it, sorry!

So is it only Keyboard that is using OSC in the Launchpad duplex?

Thanks again

Cool, good to have that sorted out

And yup - for now, such internal OSC messages are exclusively used by the Keyboard…
