Breakbeat after Venetian Snares

Here is my manually done copy of the breakbeat patterns from Venetian Snares’s Szamar Madar, from about 2:34 to 3:08.

I used the Get Ready break, from the set of 200 Renoise-sliced breakbeats someone posted a while ago. The break is very long, and I admit I got a little out of hand with the variations–there are 9 snare hits, for example, and I used most of them.

The Get Ready break is a lot brighter and splashier than the one VS uses, and it seems to have a wider distinction between types of sounds–I found myself rolling snares or hats when VS’s sound seemed to be in between. (Of course the real original break VS sampled must have used snares and hats.)

I went light on effects, using just a maximizer, some distortion for the second part, and played with a few up/down slides (sort of a substitute for what VS does at that point).

What do you think of this as breakbeat programming per se? I want to find ways to improve.

Of course the real original break VS sampled must have used snares and hats

Didn’t he just sample the Amen break?

Lyn collins - think is all the wayy

he sampled some break i think but he use acoustic drum sample too you recreation of the rythm is cool to hear

I wish people would do what you just did more often.

you did this by ear? wow!

anyone have the dropbox files since 2years ?

Xeroderman, you wouldn’t happen to have .xrns of “hydrogen fall” you’d like to share? It’s such a good track!

Anyone haveSzamar Madar break copy .xrns? Dropbox is saying 404.
