SF2 support?

Hello,

I am very happy that SFZ are supported now.
But i dont have any. I have a lot of SF2

But the SF2 are not supported. If you load it you will get all the individual sound loaded as one sample.
It is better than nothing but…

Can you add support for SF2? Or is there any software (best for linux) that can make batch conversion from SF2 to SFZ?

Thank You

You could run v2.8 using the extended file format tool, import all sf2 and save them as instr.

Uh… Then I mixed this up. Sorry. But somehow I already converted SF2 to XRNI… Maybe with some converter available…

You can try this:

seems to be able to import Sf2 and export SFZ  Try demo and please report! EDIT: Ah, damn in demo export is disabled. :frowning:

This is the best free / grey orchestral library ive ever heard. It would be amazing to have it in renoise.

So many files that convert one by one would be horrible.

There are quite a few sfz here http://www.bandshed.net/sounds/sfz

Have you already tried Polyphone??

It seems that I can convert SF2 to SFZ by this.

Polyphone

  • File >> Open (SF2)
  • File >> Export soundfont (choose SFZ format)

Renoise 3.1
- “Import Multi-Sample” in the Keyzones preset menu.

(Ah,now I notice thatsimply I can load sfzfiles from browser)

I use Polyphone for converting as well. Quick, easy, and you can do batch conversions of multiple sf2 files into their own folders filled with the sfz files and raw samples. I can vouch for this program (flipping amazing to have soundfonts in Renoise now because of it, and the Renoise Team of course.

Definitely use it to convert that library, it will take under 30 seconds to load up your soundfonts and convert them all once you know how it works, and it works pretty simply lol

Great tip, thank you

but the polyphone freeze in the moment i open any sf2 (compiled on fedora 24)

Reviving a very (very!) old thread, but if it helps others trying to load SF2 files in Renoise, the website for Polyphone has changed and you can now find it here:

Polyphone will load the SF2 files and you can then export them to SFZ (ie a folder with all the exported samples as individual files, plus a text SFZ configuration file explaining how to load them). You can then load those into Renoise by just dragging the SFZ file into the Instruments list.

(Of course it’d be nicer if Renoise could load SF2 files directly, but this is a good workaround in the meantime.)

Hope that helps others looking for this info!
