Reset macros/doofer

There is this one thing that keeps me from using doofers more often and it is also a problem regarding instrument automation. I often like to reset an LFO/stepper/phase at some point in the pattern, but if the device is in a doofer/instrument, I have to link the reset button to a doofer/macro knob. But Automation PatternFX or automation events won’t retrigger, if there hasn’t been a change of value before. Is there a better way to do this? Just now I was trying to reset a stepper device at the beginning of the song but I had to use clunky workarounds. Is there a technical reason why these automation commands are not regarded whenever the value didn’t change?

Did you ever figure this one out mate?

I’m having a devil of a time trying to get an Instrument Stepper to reset using macros.

I can map the macro to the reset control no problem, but as soon as i try to automate the reset using a Instrument Macros pattern command, it just refuses to work when the song is played :frowning:

The way it works with, say, the Instr. MIDI Control device, you can insert pattern commands and, unlike graphical envelopes, they are always fired as the song is playing.

This works great for entering a bunch of pattern commands that initialize the device somehow.

Unfortunately, this behavior does not seem to include the Macro device. Would be great if it did, would definitely receive a +1 from me!

As for workarounds, the easiest one I can think of is to enter two pattern commands in the same line. Make sure they have different values, and that the last one is the value you need.

Hey, thanks for the tip - I’ll give that workaround a try. The stepper is such a useful device, if I can get total control of it
