Akai LPK25 Problems (all of a sudden!)

Hey all,

For some reason, about a week ago, Renoise decided to stop recognising the MIDI controller I’ve been using for the past year. Every time I load Renoise up a message appears on the screen saying “Failed to open the MME MIDI device ‘LPK25’!” and I can’t work out why this is the case. I’ve tried re-installing the drivers for the controller to no avail. I’ve also tried changing the USB port that I normally have it plugged into but that hasn’t helped either.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this issue please respond to this post!

Cheers,

Ardeer/ Swedger

Do you have other music making programs that take midi-input open at the same time as Renoise? I get the same message when accidentally opening a second instance of Renoise.

Hey Djeroek. That seemed to be precisely the problem. Any time I had Google Chrome open it must have sharing the same drivers or something, because as soon as I close Chrome down my MIDI controller works completely fine.

I’m perplexed as to why this is only a problem now though, as I’ve always been able to have Chrome and Renoise open simultaneously without any issues arising.

MIDI support was added recently, but apparently not in a very nice way.

This reddit thread suggests some workarounds, but surely something better must be possible?

Jeez. That’s a serious pain in the arse. My MIDI controller seems to be working fine whilst both Renoise and Chrome are open once again but if that problem returns it looks like I’ll be making a switch back to Firefox or something. :frowning:
