mastertune

anybody knows how to change the cents value of a virtual instrument (synth) in renoise??

i want to change the herz value of the base note to 136,10Hz (C#).

do you know?

Since audio generation happens inside the synth, you have to look individually inside the synth. Most synths have such an option… If you mean a simple overall transpose, yes, you can setup this in the Renoise’s synth/instrument options. Have a look below the instruments list (maybe you need to expand the options). There is a control for transpose the instrument.

There’s nothing Renoise can do about tuning a plugin instrument in cents. Only semitone transpose is possible, as ffx points out.

But whether you can tune to 136.1Hz or not depends on the synth, I guess. Does it have controls for coarse and fine tuning?

If it does, I would do it like this:

First of all, this will only work when the synth is tuned to 440Hz - which is usually the case.

To reach 136.1 Hz you need to tune it down to C3 (21 semitones, or almost two octaves) and apply a bit of finetuning afterwards

C3 is 130.81Hz and C#3 is 138.59Hz (look here), so, assuming that a finetune has a range of 1 semitone, 136.1 would be the C3 tuned roughly 0.68 cents upwards

But instead of calculating everything on paper I would suggest having a reference to tune against.

There are many plugins that can do this sort of thing - try searching google for “test tone vst” or something similar.

thank you both very much!! i could tune it to earth frequence 136,1 Hz. now i make spacey sound…

i have used an original 136.1hz tone from youtube and played the c3 plus 0.68cents in my vst. but the sounds like not fitting hundred percent together. if i tune down to about 0.60/0.61 cents, it sounds better. less waving. i have tryed to calculate it, but failed. so, can you explain your calculation path please? how did you find out 0.68 cents? thank you
