How to keep RPM and change pitch of a sample

Hello,

A short percussive sample that has a few notes is loaded. It is put across several notes in the keyzone. Using the computer keyboard, each note plays at a different pitch, but also at a different speed. Is it possible to only have the pitch change without the speed of the sample being altered at the same time ?

Cheers.

  1. chop the sample to the individual hits, sequence the hits like in the original. as phrase or so, if you use slice markers there’s an option to render the exact timings to phrase notes. some tricks like ping-pong loop each hit’s tail can kind of mask the timing differences sometimes.

  2. use a 3rd party high quality pitch shifter effect for each target pitch, but this will almost always degrade the audio quality.

And, this is where I would point out that the waveform editor has the “render slices to phrase” feature in it’s right-click/context menu.

It’s a quite a time saver when doing this kind of stuff…
