Step Length while Pasting?

Hi All–

I like to use the Step Length feature in the pattern editor to quickly add drum hits at specific intervals – like every 4, 8 lines or whatever.

Is it possible to do this while copy-pasting? I’d love to be able to create a 16-line pattern, copy it, and paste with my step length at 16, quickly filling up all 64 lines with a repeating pattern.

Is there a way to do this? Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Try the “paste continuously” function, mapped to CTRL + P by default.

It will repeat whatever is on the clipboard, until the end of the pattern is reached.

Hi I know this is an old thread, but it’s the first one that comes up when searching “paste step length”. Still unclear how to make Ctrl-P paste in steps greater than 1.

I use this constantly now. Thanks @dblue !
@profquad just…

  • select the number of lines you want to copy (let’s say 8 lines),
  • press Cmd/Ctrl+C,
  • go to where you want to paste, and press Cmd/Ctrl+P.

This will repeat those 8 lines over and over until the end of the pattern.
