save midi mappings upon reloading of song

It would be cool if renoise could recognize which usb midi controllers are currently plugged in AND load up the midi mappings as they were for that usb midi controller when the last session was saved.

I’m thinking about using renoise for live drumming and knob twiddling routines but I’m not going to have time to remap usb midi controllers as I load up each new song.

You can use a song template for this: File > Save As Template Song

MIDI mappings are saved in the song, and since the song template is simply a Renoise song, there should be no difference.

Also, when you map e.g. tracks volume to CC#18, it doesn’t matter to Renoise which controller sent the message. Only that it matches the given CC number.

Ah OK, great, thanks for your help. So I will have to make sure that each tracks midi mappings are compatible with the template songs midi mapping.

I think it would be a useful feauture to be able save totally different midi mappings per song in future updates of renoise.

Ah, but they are saved in the song. I thought you were looking for a way to create a MIDI setup once, and then re-use it.
