When sampling a section of drums from a song, where do you guys start the sample from?
would it be the first marker in the image or the second {start of sound or highest part of soundwave}?

1A if you wish natural sound.
1B will remove the accoustic transient and swing-in from the Bassdrum, and replace it with a very harsh synthetic one directly followed by swinging skipped to the body of the drum hit.
