"Save each pattern into a separate file" doesn't delete co

According to the manual on rendering, saving each pattern into a separate file should delete any completely silent patterns… but 7483 test silent.xrns renders files for all three patterns – even though two of them are silent. I opened them in an audio editor and it says the peak is -Inf dB.

I disabled all the tools I have installed, to rule out any weird interactions.

Is this a bug, or is something weird going on with my system?

I would say it is more Renoise than your system pat. If you switch on the ‘save each track’ as well as ‘save each pattern’ check box in the render dialog. I find that it does start to delete files that are silent patterns. To me if you just tick ‘save each track’ then that seems to work. If you just tick ‘save each pattern’ each pattern is saved (but silent patterns are retained on disk, not deleted), if both are ticked then silent patterns/tracks seem to be deleted, but I’m not quite certain if the resulting files you get are completely correct when you have silent tracks/patterns (but I haven’t fully tested it or looked into it in depth.)

Yeah “save each track” deletes silent files, but “save each pattern” doesn’t. “save each track” isn’t what I want in this case though…

I quite agree. My above post is not some super clever personal attack to discredit you pat, put you down or to void ‘the bug(s)’ that are present here in 3.1. It is just a quick analysis of those two options for anybody who cares to read what I wrote.
