Greetings from a new member here.
I plan to buy and learn Renoise, but see no point in investing my time (and money) in mastering a dead piece of software. I believe it’s really good in its current form, but still there are bugs to fix and new features to add.
So the question is -is Renoise still being developed or has been abandoned?
It would be extremely nice if Renoise dev team could comment on this simple question.

They have already commented, it’s not dead. There is an imminent bug fix.

Renoise is not dead or abandoned. Development time is simply being spent on another project at the moment. Focus will eventually return to Renoise.
Either way, I’ve always said that your decision to purchase Renoise should be based on what it can do for you right now, not what it might be able to do for you in the future.
If there are currently some big features missing that are hindering your creative process, then you may want to consider looking elsewhere for now.
