People are going all ranty regarding the lack of updates… that's only fair.

BUT and that is very important :

when you work on a complex project for years , there is something almost painful to do the community manger job. Because dealing with constant requests and whining is extraordinarily efficient at draining energy and motivation. Because having to justify yourself for each and every decision is an absolute PITA.

Trust me I've been there, and every single devs in their shoes will tell you the same story (just take a look at all those steam alpha releases : devs are all chatty the first few months… then it's all silence !)

When small teams are involved (without a ton of funding) there's no one to back you up if you have to slow down or do a side project. Because of what I said earlier : it is not that easy to "just explain" you won't give anything new soon (and most of the time, it is hard to know when "soon" is).

There's a reason why big companies have dedicated Community Managers. It not only for marketing purposes, it is also to protect the production team from the clients.

Please bear in mind that :

- Renoise is right now one of the slickest most stable DAW ever and it has enough features to keep you occupied for a lifetime.

- Go to the native-instrument forums to see what "silent devs" means (and THEY have money). At least, the Renoise team is very active on the forums and they actually answer most questions.

That say I think that'd be a nice move from you guys of the Renoise team" to organize "live Q&A" every once and a while. Once every semester would be plenty. Maybe just once a year.

It might be tedious, but it only lasts a couple of hours. Then on the forums you'll be able to reply : "for dev related question come to our Q&A !".

It can even be something a bit festive with live tutorials and  song contests from the community…

Actually you should do that every 27th of april. Why ? Because the 26th is International Noise Awareness Day, therefore, the 27th should be declared International Renoise Awareness Day

What do you think ?

mbc without new version to celebrate, in beta state,....sigh......

lol nothing to defend right now, we have been asked to be patient until January for news, so we're either pissed off by the fact and buy bitwig, or just get by. I cannot understand all the elaborate forum arguing around this topic, seems so much like wasted time when its not going to move anything anyways...

It is so funny for me that people till now can not realize that , instead of sitting all the day and discuss the Renoise update's thing , you can just Sit and MAKE SOME MUSIC FOR GOD SAKE LOL .^_^
What is the idea of getting a DAW if you are not using it ????
I cleared my point before about this issue , i am not going to repeat it !
But i have to clear my simple theory in here . It works everywhere and you can use it in any situation :

Like in any state there is always that part of society that is capable only of whining and complaining without any deeds. This part is called Public Parasites. Their task is to find the ability to manage in any structure, searching only for bad aspects in any product or movement and talk about these permanences permanently and ONLY with the aim of getting the general public opinion on this or that direction.
There is a second part of the society that WORKS SILENTLY. They behaves constructively, "NOT DESTRUCTIVE," and therefore they achieves good results.
That's all ! So, do not pay attention to the parasitic part of this forum, you will not see music from them "They could at least spend this time creating music, but they are only able to do other things. They are mostly litterateurs / than musicians   "

Yeah, I wanted to add a paragraph about this annoying tendency some musicians have : "I can't complete my track without THIS microphone, without THAT effect pedal and I especially can't do anything without having Renoise in 4K"…

But hey, it can't hurt to show the "silent renoise workers" some support. They deserve more praise than they got.

BUT COMMON

International Renoise Awareness Day    If that's not the best idea ever, I don't know what is !  :D

Seriously, I do not know what you want to get with this topic. What is this? Those who whimper against those who whimper? If you are disturbed by some comments, try to understand the nature of the people, and ignore if necessary. Pay attention to what is really interesting. And in these forums there are very interesting things...

In what I have been doing in these forums for a long time, I have read many topics from many users. Some of them have been with Renoise for many years and know him very well, and make music with him and do not have to demonstrate their compositions in the forums. These people deserve a lot of respect. They just want to enjoy this magnificent DAW. But there are certain things that can be improved and these people insist that Renoise improve. So all these people want Renoise to keep evolving. There's no more. And that's because of how big Renoise is. If Renoise were a piece of shit, nobody would care. But hey, it seems like people like it!!!

There may be people on the forums who think and comment, make mistakes, or ask for things that Renoise already has. It would not be the first time. But that is a superficial view of what happens in the forums, which, in my opinion is much more complex.

I do not think it's about putting two sides or something: those who defend updates, and those who do not. That here in the forums there are very serious people giving opinions and leave great ideas and suggestions. And it is not the first time that the people go to another place precisely because Renoise gives the feeling of not having continuity. By the way, others users make tools, and the available API can also receive improvements.

How can you complain about going in favor of the updates? In my opinion, It is not necessary to add fuel to the fire... Besides, this is not a new situation, it seems. No matter how much you defend one thing or the other, there will be people commenting and hoping that Renoise improves. It is the most logical thing. In addition, most people who bring ideas, or want more concrete improvements, comments with all the respect of the world. It is not necessary to defend anything. This situation is normal.

There are thousands of entries aimed at improving Renoise, or finding a better way to do such a thing. If no one contributed their ideas, suggestions and tried to improve certain things, these forums would have little content. Yes, there would be some songs and some shared files, and talk about other things that do not really matter. If Renoise is what it is, it is also thanks to these forums and all that content, also of those people who "whine". You just have to read from 2010 until now. You will see the things there are.

But hey, this is all fun. The truth is that when a new update comes out, it will come out, everyone like crazy to download it. So, make music, enjoy what you already have and continue to contribute those magnificent ideas and suggestions, because that's just the constructive thing, and well, apparently everybody complains. Oh, and I also encourage people to learn how to make tools. With this, Renoise will be better mastered. There is a whole open field to explore, and as it seems, many people ignore. That is also an important  part of Renoise, the philosophy of building your own tools to better master Renoise, along the way you will find many ideas and suggestions to contribute to the community.

But you're not going to fool anyone Deep down everyone wants to see those happy updates  :D  :D  ;). Much patience! Everything will come!

Renoise just feels like it's being very neglected. Like a poor orphan who's foster parents gave up on :-(

There's obviously a market gap and it will only continue to grow as time goes on. Someone will fill it. It's just a matter of time and money. Would prefer to see it get filled sooner rather than later.

I can understand there are those who are all about Renoise and its current state. That's great. Stay with 2.7 if you want, I'm ready to move on to something more effective.

I use Renoise in pair with FL Studio. FLS lacks of precise and handy automation and sampler commands (so to get reversed snare you actually copy it and reverse :D or use 3rd party samplers which are crap and bulky). Renoise lacks of midi and sounddesign workflow: you can't reverse pattern, move notes etc etc out of box in two clicks. Renoise as host and FL as slave (rewire or plugin) = ultimate tandem. Add ableton push 1 with PXT (even without PXT push is awesome) and old ass evolution uc-33 and my body is ready

I wouldn't want to be a "Mr. Mueller" these days. Everybody is telling you to work faster. That's a lot of pressure.
I'd like a feature update for christmas too though.
