How can I track multiple notes outputting from a chord generating plug

I have a plugin, A, sending out chord information (more than one note) and being routed to another plugin, B, via MIDI routing.

The resulting sound is exactly what you’d expect.

But when in edit mode, and attempting to record all the notes being generated, only the pressed single note is tracked.

Has anyone encountered something similar and come up with a solution?

Edit: I should add than in a normal DAW, I can select plugin A as a MIDI input on the track with plugin B on it. In Renoise, I thought that MIDI routing A to B would do the trick of enabling all the notes to be tracked on plugin B track.

thank you

Do you mean recording the midi output of the (midi )plugin in to the pattern editor ?

If so , I’m afraid that’s not possible .

Renoise internal midi bus routing is pretty limited

Ok.

I will default to using a different DAW for the MIDI and importing the MIDI into Renoise for some nasty Renoise manipulation.

I guess what I will tell you next is not what you are looking for. But maybe it will help you.

We have 2 easy ways to generate chords for live recording:

  1. The first is the most natural: connect a MIDI keyboard, and you can play multiple notes or chords (up to 12 notes) and they will be recorded on the same line (each note in a separate note column within the selected track).
  2. Using tools (with OSC): for example, you have available PhraseTouch tool. This tool will allow you, among other things, to configure up to 16 specific chords and record them each one from a single button (“Master” button of each panel of notes).

The issue is to generate the chord within Renoise.I do not know if what you want is possible to do it in some way, maybe with a specific tool through OSC. But that’s for very advanced users who know how to program that into a tool.Maybe Neurogami or Danoise have more idea about this.

There are more simple tools to generate chords. You press a button and it records the whole chord. For the moment, the most advanced I have seen is VPDpro , which is not released and another joule tool for chords not released. Here is information about VPDpro, just to give you an idea of what can be done with tools (and OSC):https://forum.renoise.com/t/development-of-vpdpro-chordpad-some-demostrations/48619

I would really like these features to be native in some way, under the hood of Renoise. I have seen that the generation of chords is very demanded by the users. That of touching a single button or key (the root note) and that record all the notes of the chord (even its velocity and delay). The user only has to select a type of chord or build his own by selecting notes in a specific panel, within the instrument editor.Unfortunately, Renoise still does not reach these things.
