Help about clicks and pops within sampled instrument

I have this Playback knob enable at Sample Properties

If I play one sample at the time on my keyboard, clicks wont happen?

Can you also hearclicks and pops?

It occurs mostly on line 40 to 50 to me

What is this about? Explain to me

How to fix?

I have quickly reviewed your song with SamRender tool to find those clips. Apparently, your samples have recorded clips, which you should clean by editing each responsible sample.

For example, your sample C#5 has a clip at the end. You should check all your samples to avoid this annoying situation.

Renoise records exactly what the samples play. It does not do strange things. If there is a clip, it is caused by some sample. Your song is far from causing clips due to excessive volume.

You can use SamRender to examine the final result of the wave of your song and easily locate where the annoying clip is and, therefore, the causative note. This will quickly locate the responsible sample. I have located a clip quickly. But you may have other clips in other samples … Examine the waves of each sample with depth.

I had something similar happening once with DSK Overture, i couldn’t figure out why i kept getting clicks when using it, untill i found out that the actual samples used in Overture contains clicks on a few notes. That’s really bad for a VST imo, but i guess that is why it’s free. These clicks can be very elusive and hard to spot, in the case of Overture i found a tiny DC offset in some samples that was almost impossible to find using your eyes.

The other day a user asked me what SamRender can do for you. Well, this thread is a great example. Search and locate unwanted wave sections, its exact location.

Separate topic… I comment the following in case someone is in this situation. If you use the same instrument (several samples), in several tracks, and all these samples have FX Chain in the instrument, Renoise will probably play small clips or strange noises when cutting the sounds. This is another limitation that forces Renoise to be used in two ways:

  1. If you use FX Chain on an instrument with several sampleswrite the notes of this instrument only on a track.
  2. If you use multiple tracks for a single instrument, do not use the FX Chain of the instrument.

This is perhaps one of the most alarming routing limitations of Renoise.Apparently, no solution was found to avoid this problem, that’s why this damn warning exists: (NB: Instruments with DSP chains can, like plugins, only be played back in one track at any given time.).

This scenario could drive the user crazy, if he does not know this limitation.

The slices are not correctly set, so some slices contain a bit of the start of the next hit, which results in a click. You can switch off each note column to isolate those notes and then see in the sample editor what slice is responsible for the click. I mean, it would be pretty helpful if slices also had an individual length, not neccessarily matching the exact distance to the next slice…
