Any advice is appreciated!

Did you install the drivers correctly and if so did you try using the card with another daw?Maybe you have some other software open at the same time?Could be direct x problem try updating it and also update your drivers in general .Try a different usb port could help

@iamjoey.It seems that the Scarlett 2i2 device needs special drivers for USB ASIO for Windows (focusriteusbinstaller4.36.5-612.exe).Are you using Windows 10 x64 and Renoise 3.1.1 x64?

I had problems with the USB Microphone Trust Emita and Windows 10, but it not need special drivers. If you unplug the USB device and reconnect it, Renoise does not detect it.

It’s strange. It seems that Renoise does not detect the changes of the devices. That is, when Renoise starts for the first time, it reads the status of the devices and all ok! But if anyone changes, it is likely that Renoise “does not know”. In theory, USB devices are plug and play. If you unplug a USB audio device and then connect it again, Renoise should detect it, but it seems that it does not work like that, at least with some devices.

I have also had problems with the Sound Blaster ZxR PCIe, when changing speaker settings. Renoise goes crazy and unstable, and, on this occasion, I doubt that Creative is to blame, since the sound card works perfectly, it does not fail, it stays working. In your case, check the drivers, and if it fails, try the “Reinitialize” button, inside Renoise: Preferences/Audio.

Hm, sounds like it could be a driver related issue.
Perhaps it allows access to ASIO from some other software, which then causes the problem.

As a temp workaround, you could try a third-party ASIO driver such as ASIO4All.
It’s a little hit/miss how well it works, but you might get ASIO running without the crashes

Are you using Windows 10 x64 and Renoise 3.1.1 x64?

Yes, in order to track down the problem this would be helpful to know.

Thanks for the responses all. After doing some research it looks like it’s a VERY common issue with focusrite audio interfaces… there just doesn’t seem to be a common fix and it’s really upsetting me because all I want to do is make music. I’ll be trying a bunch of things later on today but I’m not feeling much hope right now.

I took it out of the USB 3 port and plugged it into a regular one and whilst that has made the crashes far less frequent it also introduced a lot of crackling and hissing in the sound every few seconds, but only when playing audio via renoise… playing music via spotify or youtube or whatever is flawless. I also tried ASIO4ALL though that hasn’t changed much either.

But yes, I’m using Windows 10 x64 with Renoise 3.1.1 x64.

I am at my brothers place , running renoise on win 10 , 64 , same audio interface as yours .( mk1 )

Works flawlesly …download different focusrite drivers …the latest 2.0 driver doesn’t always seem to work

Any idea where I can download older drivers? The official website will only let me download the newest.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll give it a try as soon as I can.
