It’s definitely very under-appreciated. People complained that it’s repetitive even though it was visibly different from what he had done before, not to mention those prepared piano Cage style in-between tracks. It was just that phase of maturity for him, I think, that whatever he would have done then, people would bitch about. Just like now that he has come back it’s automatic appraisal for everything he does.
