Im starting to get really frustrated with the block drag/drop method which has implemented. Can it be changed so another key or mouse button is used (ie right mouse button) because all this feature does it move stuff you DONT WANT TO MOVE !!!
In fact is there a way of turning it off ?? Im pretty used to using ALT F3/F4/F5
Oh and coupled with the fact the ALT F3/F4/F5 shortcuts seemed to have stopped working, manipulating blocks copying and pasting is becoming a REAL hassle …
Does anybody like the way the drag and drop works ??
No. I would really like drag n drop to only work with shift pressed. An option is not a good idea since you sometimes use it, but mostly it is by accident
Working only when shift is pressed seems like a good idea. I like how the system works, though I haven’t used it all that much, as I most often just go to the end of a pattern and do ALT-A or something. I’m sure there’s room for improvement, to make it more efficient in use, but I doubt the process of dragging selected content with the mouse is any less efficient than having to shift from track to track with the keyboard. It’s just that we’re used to doing it with the keyboard.
ALT F3-5 has always been a very cumbersome shortcut combination for me (i.e. eschewing the angle of the wrist/arm every time. ALT-A, CTRL-C/V/X let’s me keep my hand in the same position as I would normally have it).
i’ve been experimenting with the drag-n-drop function and i think it’s kind of cool. i like that i can highlight a section and try it out in different tracks with different effects. maybe i don’t accidentally use it because i hardly ever use the mouse, but i’ve been using the mouse lately for the pattern sequencer and drag-n-drop. i wouldn’t be opposed to the ‘shift’-key idea.
