2 Sample Editor Additions

I like the sample editor. It’s so much quicker, smoother and more intuitive than using something like Audacity. (perhaps there’s a good freeware/cheap alternative?)

However, I would die to see the total/current sample number for super accurate editing. The numbers it gives instead don’t seem to be useful (they aren’t seconds). To complement this, one should be able to select the start and end of a range by the exact sample number (even if it’s in the millions which it very often is!). Two editable numbers - one for the range start, and one for the range end - just how like Soundstudio used to do.

The other less essential addition would be to play from the sample from the cursor when you press a key (yes I know one can do this by the little play button at the bottom right, but it would still be convenient).

Last but not least, it should be possible to play/edit the left and right channels individually.

+2! good call.

  1. Above and below the sample editor display you have 2 rulers. Each one of these can be set to display a variety of different things, including the number of samples. Simply right-click on the ruler itself and then choose what you want. When the lower ruler is set to display samples, you will also get a little selected range readout to the right of the [REC] button. (Or rather, this range display is there all the time, but it reflects whatever the lower ruler is set to). Unfortunately it’s not possible to manually enter the range start/end positions.

  2. When the sample editor has keyboard focus (middle-click the sample area with your mouse), you can press Return to play the current selection, or play from the current cursor position. While this is handy, it is not currently possible to play different notes in this way.

Wow, I’m really happy about 1. Be still nice to edit those numbers (+see the total), but this will do for now!
