A Better Way For Renoise Songs To Go Noticed?

i would also say that this has nothing to do with rns- songs, but a true issue can be found over at kvr-forum.
in the “largo is a flop?!” thread there are a few ppl who try to discuss a few downfalls.
and renoise is mentioned there…

i think you get the picture.

i dont think mark was talking about renoise specific songs… more about the music that’s made by people that go around these parts. there is a difference in there you know…

what wrong with trying to discuss to get our music out there ? you silly people.

<_<

edit

ok yeah i can see the topic title might have given that impression … n/m :D

I agree with the sentiment “who cares what tools you use” but Foo? is talking about the Renoise community and trying to brainstorm on how to create a social network that benefits us because, well, we exist.

There is no “Reason” or “Ableton” community so to speak.

There is a Renoise community though. Much less to do about the tool itself, more to do about the camaraderie of people who seem drawn to tracker interfaces.

What if Renoise had a share/serve/critique engine similar to what http://8bitcollective.com has?

Luckily, Renoise does not appear to attract 14-year-olds, Russian song rippers, and trolls.

And what is our common ground? That we use the same software to create music?

All tracks end up as sound waves in the end-- regardless of the tools used to make them. It seems like everybody is trying too hard to justify their preferred method of audio production, and in doing so they belittle their medium. No painter is trying to justify that good paintings can be produced with Reeves or X brand of paint. I prefer the “Check out this track I made…” method-- and if somebody asks then I will tell them… And, if not, well that’s perfectly OK because not everybody who likes music particularly cares about how it was produced.

I’d love to see a cd/dvd filled with renoise source files. Just as you used to be able to buy cd’s filled to the rim with mod/s3m/xm files. Last one I bought was in '97 or so.

That would exclude the use of vst’s though imo. Or just dupe every person that doesn’t have that specific vst.

Anyway it would fit in the tracker nostalgia and Renoise would be the only tracking program that deserves such a cd with it’s accomplishments over the past couple of years.

Hey! Don’t discriminate, I’m a 14-year-old Russian troll song ripper and my favourite brand of paint is Rembrandt student!

LOL!!!

Well, for me it’s more the other way around — it’s a way to promote Renoise/Demoscene? Those still don’t get anything close to the mainstream attention they woud deserve. So yeah, make good music and then link to Renoise… instead of asking what Renoise can do for you! :D :D

There’s a lot of crap music out there that is topping charts. Then again, I’m sure everyone has their own opinion of what’s good and bad.
