Accurate Control Of Automation

Hi everybody!

I’m using a Vst-synth called Junglist and after tweaking some of its parameters I found a very nice sound that sounds perfect. Especially when I tweak the cutoff slowly just a little bit upwards to get a nice rising sweep.

Now the problem arises when I try to automate that sweep, the automation window is way too inaccurate for the very small changes I would like to make for the cutoff. And I can’t zoom in either to work more presicely

So is there a way to edit the cutoff somehow numerically? I mean by typing in numbers for the desired parameter positions? I tried to use panning command 90 with the cc-message 81 (should control cutoff of junglist) but that has no effect whatsoever. Am I missing something here?

What do you guys do when you need to automate very small changes in vst-parameters? Do I need to use a Midi CC-meta device or is the vst-automate meta device that I use now enough? Any help would be highly appreciated!

it can be that VST MetaDevice doesn’t work with some plugin, though it’s unlikely to be so.

MIDI MetaDevice would surely work, but try to make fine changes to automation by dragging the desired automation point when pressing right mouse button and left control key

you can also use xyzz track command, where:
x is the xth position in the track DSP chain
y is the yth parameter of the xth DSP
zz is the 00…ff value to apply

You can also hold down alt or was it ctrl to move a automation value up or down in very small steps.
