Howdy. When I record midi and play something using aftertouch… a whole shitloads of commands and numbers that makes no sense to me pops up. I have used trackers for 20 years, so I am aware of all the pattern commands, and also how you do VSTi automation on various nobs etc. But how do I program aftertouch?? Give it to me the easy way please. In Logic aftertouch is just a regular automation lane… perhaps I can use the automation lane in Renoise? Did not find out how. Thanks for help.
That is indeed a problem I’d like to see resolved in new versions of renoise.
Maybe it would indeed need a complete restructuration of the automation concept but I really wish both mod wheel and pitch wheel were going to an automation curve as well as automation. The pattern would only focus on notes and one could easily edit the automation curves into something human readable.
you can already automate Pitch Bend (PB) and Channel Pressure (CP) (which is monophonic aftertouch) using Midi Control Device:
the default Midi Control Device setup shown above contains a PB and CP slider pre-configured.
Mod wheel is usually controlled using CC#1 so you just need to set another slider up linking it to CC#1
Ok, that would do the job I believe.
I had issues in a song of mine where I was playing some solos lives while moving the pitch bend and mod wheel (or the contrary, moving the pitch bend/mod wheel while playing some solo lives) and I noticed that it wasn’t recording everything on different channel effects (though I remember it would do that in previous versions and I’m pretty sure I didn’t dream about).
Well now I just avoid doing that and tend to record as a long shot sample so no issues with it anylonger but just in case, I would need that trick.
