This reminds me of certain days back in school when i brought a demotape of some personal Amiga MODs. People just refused to believe that an unpolular person like me would have written this music. And i don’t mean to brag here. I am sure others experienced something similar. Some people just never get recognized. Idiots show off but true artists more often hide in the background.
AI can do good covers of your music when it’s simple (inc. redoing vocals), but struggles to adapt more intricate stuff. So just let it go wild, especially to write its own lyrics.
00:00 - Taxation (Nier Minyou-mata Mix)
01:18 - Kitty Zen Sane (‘Unexpect’edly Lyrical Mix)
05:22 - With Conviction (Ride O’ Prima Knighta Mix)
07:47 - No Mercy For Tyrants (Frantic Beats Alive! Mix)
11:16 - Hydrogen Sulfide Hazing Ritual (Euro-Industrial Was Always Sus Mix)
I’m not partial to the idea of AI for complete songs and lyrics. But for samples and musical ideas, like how synplant can create patches, I’m all for it. And btw @Achenar, this thread aged perfectly, you called it right on the head.
That new v5 SUNO model sounds really good. Very professional mix, also good harmonics and sound selection. A bit reduced in variety. The level now with the right prompt is so high that you barely can tell the difference to a commerical production anymore… This is not true for all prompts and genres though.
This is kind of sad, after waves of devaluing real creative work, after Spotify only payment a millionth of a penny for your months of work, this seems to devalue it even more. It’s high times for the mass of non creative sales mans and system hypocrites… For the people with high “presentation” skills and low deep thinking skills. Makes me really sad, this direction. The surface shines even more in a very sterile way, the content though is rotten now.
So what would be your conclusion here? Maybe it’s time to not fit your own music into “standard” genres anymore, and not adapt to some famous artists in style (I never had those skills anyway), but instead really try creative stuff, combinations, mixing techniques.
Or maybe it is not devaluing the creative space of making music at all, only the commercial space, which is rigged anyway? Time for real sub culture again?
I’ll try out the v5 model to see what’s improved, since 95% of what 4.5 produced was worthless. It really liked latching onto specific sections and doing the same thing with them, often the mix and/or instrumentation was abysmal, and certain songs always produced bad results.
I’ll probably do a follow-up video to the one that started this thread, cos although the AI music shares a lot of the pros and cons of other AI stuff, it has unique factors that are worth mentioning.
Anyway, here’s another bunch of remixes that Suno 4.5 came up with:
00:00 - Kitty Zen Sane (‘Smooth’ Jazz Mix)
03:18 - Taxation (Ramix)
04:34 - No Mercy For Tyrants (What The ‘J-Pop’ Prompt Came Up With Mix)
08:45 - Taxation (Rimix)
09:45 - Hydrogen Sulfide Hazing Ritual (Industrial-Runoff No Soku-Shi Mix)
13:30 - Taxation (Romix)
14:27 - Kitty Zen Sane (How To Do A Cover Mix)
17:46 - Taxation (Rumix)
Suno5 is… odd. It mixes more competently while bringing diverse elements together, but is overly keen on forcing its own ‘palatable’ thing, and still can’t really deal with oddball input. Reminds me of how the Midjourney versions adjusted.
The ratio of stuff that grabs me is about the same, so on rare occasions it understands the assignment:
The follow up video is gonna explore this, general AI and creativity, which means I’ve got my work cut out for the end of the year:
2 Renoise Videos
AI Video
Follow-up To The DOOM Video
’Doom’ EP
Needed more v5 stuff for the video so I made covers from a wider range of my stuff. Also messed around more with the ‘Inspo’ feature, where it generates a new song based on up to four of yours.
00:00 - Born Into Steam (Chorustretched Mix)
01:58 - Arose In Hell
04:05 - Illuminero (Moonlighting In Der Club Of Gore Mix)
07:00 - Control, See? (A Cover Of A Remix Mix)
09:25 - Animal Disturbancy Merit Badge (Scaredy Cat Mix)
11:53 - Born Into Steam (Blackstretched Mix)
13:55 - Appointed Us To Wrath
A message about AI music:

I can’t help but loathing AI these days, too much AI crap being pushed in your face. Some musicians I know are embracing it, but I think I never will. Music is a way to communicate abstract ideas- and emotions to other people, stuff that cannot be said with typical use of words. I rather listen to people’s imperfect demo-recordings than mathematically “correct” AI music.
I used Suno to remix my music, which concretized my feelings on the creative use of AI.
I personally don’t like Suno or full song generation. I think that’s what a lot of people are (unreasonably) fearful of. Fully AI generated music will NOT be able to be copyrighted, at least in my country.
Remixing and sample generation is where the fun is. Especially when you throw your own sample in there and let it reinterpret/remix. Infinite chops and loops ![]()
I would value someone making something mediocre on a 20 year old netbook, on solar power, in a Beijing slum over this generic AI slop… Now data centers popping up in everybody’s back yards so why does USA need 4,200+ of them?… They already had a bunch underground data mining so the total is probably more like 5,500 yet tech advanced China only has like 370?… Now the data centers are being classified as ‘military installations’ which is beyond alarming, anybody seen a tour of the inside of one? All I see is AI renditions of what it’s supposed to look like, why all the space needed? Isn’t this the day/age of micro circuitry? & Why in every state? Feels more like alot are NOT data centers just like the whole ‘cell tower’ ordeal with 90% not even being cell towers yet capable of 500,000 to 1,000,000 watts of power if used in such a manner… Ask yourself why do these ‘cell towers’ need such overamping power when your phone hits it just fine with ONE watt of power?… We are talking vaporizing power, DEW the research…DEW it….
I sus a lot is greedy speculations driving bubbles that drive other bubbles that drive bubbles.
Like the housing market and construction boom in my country - they made houses, villages and towns in all kinds of senseless locations, bc investors were investing, architects were happy to plan and design, constructors to construct, sellers to sell, advertisers to advertise etc etc.
Around 2009 it collapsed, now there are quite a few ghost towns of half finished projects and installations, almost funny.
Perhaps that’s the fate of those AI centres, some essential ones will stay, but there will be a lot of leftover waste.
Classified as military objects - well essentially for state defence purposes everything is potentially a military object - production, logistics and communications is part of the war machine, and everything else potentially too.
Age of big states, big business - big wars, total wars - Big Total Wars. Human capital, it’s a nicety from 19th century - it’s war capital. Comies got it first with Stalin’s War Communism.
Yes, agreed as things happen quite differently in other ’countries’ which can also be vassal states or ‘corporations’ such is the USA which is a corporation… The USA is being setup for depopulation which drives everything happening within the borders, crap in the food/water/air no respect for citizens many becoming homeless everyday, failing infrastructure that will not be fixed… I could go on…
BTW didn’t alot of what you said happen in China? All the ‘ghost cities’ built out in the middle of nowhere… I’d sure like to know what the real purpose of all that was…
