All Will Change

Got a couple more in now, the first guy seems to really like and ‘get’ it, while the second guy appreciates it, but recognises that it won’t be for everyone:

“Project mastermind, scotsman Duncan Hemingway, proves to be a true expressionist of post-modern avant garde composition on tracks like the enthralling “Sojourn”. It came to the point where I was actually looking forward to what madness each track would bring, and to say the least, it does not dissapoint a fan of avant garde music.”

Avantgarde Metal (click for full review)

“The album dwells in extremes, with almost unbearable segments of heaviness and noise contrasting with serene reflective arrangements. Especially of note is the lack of guitar present, which only goes to show that the traditional distorted guitar is not necessary for “heavy” music.”

now that stuff is totaly dope, where can i get a cd copy ? :)

some of the tracks feel like death metal shaped into electro, very lovely!

You can order a CD via the online store at the label website:

man - i’ve just been listening to a load of neurosis and tribes of neurot - gotta say that some of yr tracks i’ve been listening to have the same kind of vibe - excellent stuff!

^_^ Thanks man, that’s a great compliment. I’ve never got around to picking up any of Neurosis’ albums, but I still spin the track ‘Aeon’ from ‘Through Silver In Blood’, which is superb.

Well done on getting that shop up and running. I’ve been struggling to do that myself, but because of my poor programming knowledge it’s really all a big mess and nothing works. :( I’ll have to keep at it.

Hope you sell a lot. I ordered a copy.

Cheers man, I’ll send the CD out tomorrow. I see you’re using OScommerce for your shop too, what exactly is wrong with it? I found searching the official forums gave me answers to most of my problems.

I’m trying to setup FLAC download as I don’t have any physical CDs yet (can’t afford to produce a heap of pressings that no one is going to buy). I’m sure I can figure it out, but I’m just slow at these things. I’ll try the forums eventually… Busy sorting out a host change presently.

Finally got enough footage together to complete a couple of videos. Yeah, Mountain Overseer isn’t part of the album, but it’s the track that worked best for the outdoor stuff:

Bleak and frightening. Cold as evil force.

Wow…

…this shit is just totally wickid!! :D

As soon as my paypal acount has been set up im gonna order me a copy for sure.
I cant wait!! (2 more days untill my deposit :( )

I like those videos! How did you make the first one? Looks like refractions in some sort of glass. The second one reminded me of a movie. Ever seen one of the “The Evil Dead” films? If you’d speedup the movement it would be looking kinda similar. I’d maybe used some more effects, like noise filtering or some dirt overlays, but it looks fine that way too.

…and I’m back again, this time after a ridiculous amount of work overhauling the website. Everything’s been redesigned, there’s now a dynamic information bar on the right, plus a brand new Photography section. The real reason for the bump is that the new Releases section features integrated audio streaming of all the music, as well as videos.

The album is now available via iTunes and soon Amazon. I’ll be working on making digital downloads via the Earthen Records store too at a price cheaper than those stores, with options for 320kbps and FLAC, as well as .pdfs of the artwork at 600dpi.

Oh, and there’s buttload of new reviews too:

“An impressively-constructed effort and I dare say an original one. This isn’t easy listening by any means, but All Will Change has been meticulously crafted to be listened to as one big dramatic piece, rather than individual songs. This is twisted stuff indeed, yet strangely palatable.”- Michael Roberts, Metal Reviews

“The slow doom of Achenar is neither heavy nor metal, yet frighteningly effectful and impressive. There is not much like it, anywhere. At least not rolled into one compact package like here.” - Cracked

“Epic and mysterious, the comparison in the band info with Ulver´s bizarre sound worlds is absolutely accurate.” - Klaudia Weber, STALKER Magazine

“Moves with the confidence of a Fassbinder camera, of a Haneke still shot. And much like the work of those two masters, Achenar takes time. First stirring things about, then going for several disparate angles.” - Hansel, Deaf Sparrow

“Not one track sounds like the other, which may be frustrating at first listen, but proves very rewarding after a few spins. It may not be metal per se, but in a lot of ways is more extreme than the heaviest metal bands could create.” - Mark Michels, Peacedogman

“Sojourn show a breadth and versatility in the capabilities of Achenar. Adventurous listeners of atmospheric and ambient artists take note and search out this record for you as there is a nice collection of pieces here.” - Bob Morgan, Scene Point Blank

New reviews, the first one is from a French-only site, though they do link to Babelfish translations which certainly bring the lulz:

“Electronic tablecloths, odd frequencies which foutent the balls (nothing good rock’n roll!). A disc tortured which would make pass the nightmares of Aphex Twin for marshmallow.”
Mazak, Pavillon

“All Will Change reminds me of what first attracted me to industrial music in the late 80’s: a sense of dramatic expectation. As a longtime fan of the genre, I applaud Achenar’s effort as both an homage to the forefathers and a welcome step forward.”
Richard Allen, The Silent Ballet

“The patient listener will revel in uncovering Hemingway’s diverse musical influences hidden deep within the layers of these songs, if given the proper time and place to absorb it.”
Ryan Sparks, Sea Of Tranquility

“Despite a bewildering blend of styles, composer Duncan Hemingway maintains a distinctive aesthetic throughout the album. Fans of challenging music will doubtlessly appreciate the craft Hemingway has put into this release.”
Matthew Johnson, Re-Gen Magazine

this is not my cup of tea musically. but i took a moment to gander at it, and found myself really intrigued by your sounds. very awesome production, musically coherant and distorted in a balanced way… very well done!

congratz.

I’ll take the easy way and just agree with xerxes. Some great sounds, fantastic ideas but some of the distortion and musical views just don’t work with my feelings.

I do really love the dramatic style of the album and since i’ve bought it, it get’s played over and over again. One of the best recent music buys i did.

Been a long time coming, but with new releases coming up it was time to get it on: The Earthen Records site now has digital downloads. You have a choice of MP3 @ 320Kbps or FLAC and both come with huge 600dpi copies of the artwork. The All Will Change album is available now for £5 (GBP). The store also supports Paypal Express, so purchasing with Paypal takes just a few clicks. Plus, no-one has to create a store account if they don’t want to, so it’s quicker for credit card and cheques too.

Oh and a little site called Amazon MP3 also has the album available on it now.

Why do you have prices in GBP when you could use some more common currency like EUR or USD. I am not really sure but I’d say that 90% of the purchases are going to come from USA.
