I was recently trying to use Renoise as a midi sequencer to control Supercollider. Supercollider was hogging the whole soundcard and because of this Renoise refused to play. Is the restriction of not allowing Renoise to play without a valid soundcard required? It seems like there would be perfectly valid situations where you are using it only for midi sequencing.
There are loads of other applications that do a better job on Midi sequencing, also the soundcard is usually involved in the rendering proces as well (frequency and buffering) but why not leave out supercollider instead?
If you don’t need it, bypass it (“off” the track) or unload it and then the problem is also resolved?
