Annoying Delay When Changing Views Via Function Keys

Have you guys noticed that there’s an annoyingly long delay when you change for example from pattern view to instrument editor (F1 to F3)? I’m just wondering what takes so much cpu to switch between these views? I have 1,6 GHz processor with 512 MB ram, so it should be enough easily for a faster response with the gui. Renoise is the only composing software that has this delay of those software which i’ve tried (buzz, skale, psycle etc.). Could you developers optimize this little thing in the later versions or tell me what’s going on, please?

Thanks,

Hmm, you could be right. Seems like the mixer view pops in quite fast but instrument and sample editor have this pause and they both have disk browser visible.

i have always these delays because my “Sample Base” folder situated at the external usb HDD ;) so clicking F3 in Renoise i have delay ~1.5-2 s for scanning the directory.

Perhaps rescanning should only be done on folder change or if a user explicitly pushes a refresh button (yet to be implemented).

I also noticed this, and it is annoying.
It seems like this got more dominant in the latest release, but I may be wrong.

Yeah some form of smart caching does not seem to be a luxury item…
(cache the modification date/time and only rescan the file if these are changed.)

Ha ha honestly, I never paid attention to it.
