I am actually happy with either. Software is easy to procure but its just like any other software plugin in the end like the Waves plugins, great sound, but the tangible factor is lacking after you do it all the time. I will try both versions and a hardware unit would be fun for sure. For the time being, I have a Philips 3 in 1 that came out last year and has an aux in and can record to USB drive too. So I can just get an mp3 or wav version of the same bounced to my pendrive for that analog processing sound via the tape to usb record after I perform the aux in to tape record.
