The album was finished six months ago, and the newest robot was delivered in August.

Yes, the HAT one was delivered in 2009. The newest snare was delivered a month ago:

Having heard the album, almost all the tracks sound like they use this technique. Only two or three of the tracks have lo fi, recognizable break beat samples.

I really enjoyed the album. It doesn’t feel new as the more recent autechre stuff felt to me but it’s a good listen. I’ll stick to it for a while.
I can’t wait for the next-gen drukqs stuff though.
the robots are in the gear list?
The creator of the robots is a mad artist engineer himself cool guy
I think that the robots will be more involved in a future album, not syro
yes , the creator of the robots is godfried willem raes , he’s from my hometown gent .
Altough he has a lot more recogniziation outside belgium , he tours with his hand made robot +symphonies .
There’s this funny anecdote , that at every border patrol , he has to explain that these are musical instruments .

I was in New York this week, and WHILE listening to the Syro album, I suddenly stepped on this, in a random street (57th avenue).
It freaked me out a bit to be honest, hehe … I mean what’s the friggin’ odds?
Has anybody else spotted any of these around? edit: oh > http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/aug/18/aphex-twin-teases-return-symbol-london-new-york
Anyway, awesome gimmick. It sure gave a boost to the listening experience
