After reading James Levine’s response to the 2.7 article in Create Digital Music I was wondering what happened to putting artist tracks on the Renoise Home Page?(you guys did it for a while, then stopped)
Its a gr8 way to inspire interest in the product, esp to those skeptical of what can be accomplished in a tracker.
edit: I am a dunce and can’t write topic title’s properly…maybe a moderator can change this title to [i]Artist Tracks on Renoise Home Page/i
cheers guys for responses…just curious…visually distracting to what?
I thought the home page’s purpose was to generate interest in the product. And being as it is a music program, what better way to generate interest than to show newcomers what the product is capable of via the sounds produced by it.
yeah sure…I remember the hack attack. Song page was also removed after that.
Are you saying your attention(and maybe most ppls) is drawn towards the player(even though it is all the way on the right and smaller than the rest of the info).
Because of our natural desire to view/listen to streaming media as opposed to reading text?
Otherwise, I guess I wouldn’t understand as it didn’t take up much room compared to the main panel.
I completely agree with your sentiment, however, not everyone is like that. Particularly young kids who know that most of their idols use Logic, Ableton, or Cubase.
There is a lot of public and professional opinion regarding DAW’s…logic and words won’t sell Renoise, proof that ppl make outstanding , modern and yes non-tracker style music will.(I love tracker style music so I hope you get my point).
I for one may not have chosen Renoise had I not heard Keith 303’s Evaluate Your life(and other tunes), thus reassuring me I could make neurofunk w/ Renoise.
Again, your and Peter Kirn’s sentiments are completely correct…however, when we are starting out in the murky world of music production many of us(read practically all of us) need to hear the style of music we are interested in being produced by the prospective software before we feel confident enough to invest!
I agree w/ human faces point. I personally think it makes the site more interesting and is in the financial interests of renoise. However, this is merely a discussion…I have no invested interest in the outcome(if any), other than I think that the page was more fun that way! And, that it is better for renoise and even its artists!
