Artistsites

are there any good sites where a musician can present some songs and that really is of some use ? (Like where DJs, A&Rs and such look around)

I mean, myspace is fun meanwhile, some art-goth-girl from new york discovered my NIN-Remix, put it on her page and now my plays go over the roof since she obviously has a lot of friends, but I thought there should be more … I lost track of this stuff some time ago. Do you even know what I mean ?

I’ve heard theres tonnes of awesome muso’s at www.renoise.com
:P

I prefer the FL-Studio site though.

http://www.uptrax.de/ ?

cool, keep em coming, I really have no idea about those sites. I was offline for over a year, you know :D

If you own your own webspace, you should also try http://www.ctgmusic.com/ - although there ain’t any label or A&R’s online (AFAIK) you get quite a lot feedback for your music.

Other ones: http://trancefish.myownmusic.de/
http://www.track4.de/

But AFAIK, the best to get in touch with labels is not to upload the stuff to public sites :)

this is only true if you make trance: most of my songs didn’t get more than 10 downloads in one year there…

I got lots of feedback from modplugcentral, when its database was still active :(

http://www.archive.org has a music/netlabel section which seems to be quite popular. They’ll even host your stuff for free. I’m sure there are thousands of people browsing there each day with an open ear just hoping to find some new and interesting music. Several friends of mine are constantly telling me “hey check this really cool stuff I found on archive.org!” every day.

yeah, my d&b songs have gotten some decent number of plays there but my stuff labelled “other” has hardly been listened to

The trick with CTGmusic is to review alot… then your songs get advertised on the main page and you can get tons of downloads… and maybe even a few reviews :P

and I do mostly experimental/other category stuff

Yeah, Byte - I remember your track “CTG is for trance” ;)

Too bad, that my english sucks (at least for writing good reviews)

heheh… that’s the funny part… “CTG is for trance” wasn’t trance… even though I labeled it as such… and it was a parody of CTG… that I threw together in 3 days, just for fun… and I didn’t really care how it sounded at all, so I didn’t really tweak anything that went into it … in all, I really consider it one of my worst tracks… yet it’s my most popular track on CTG :P

I guess it goes to show that art is generally misunderstood.
