Asio Problems

I just finished building a new PC with an EMU 1820 and I’m having all kinds of problems so far. Renoise acts very glitchy when I switch to ASIO. I can’t use a samplerate of over 4800 (no ASIO driver error flashes) , and frequently get pops and clicks in my audio, as with anything I render. Nine times out of ten when I click a sample in the browser it plays for an instant and then flashes the “Loading Aborted!” message. I’ve tried a few of the usual things like checking for IRQ conflicts and installing the newest version of the EMU ASIO drivers. When I switch to Directsound everything is fine.

Totally lost and would be thankful for any advice.

Have you tried setting a higher latency? Could you give some specs on your PC?

I have tried adjusting the latency, doesn’t seem to help.

Specs are:

AMD Athalon 64x2
2 gigs RAM
EMU 1820 soundcard
Biostar T-Force 4 motherboard (with onboard sound disabled)

Thanks for the help!

There could be many problems you have,

I have had to go into loads of stress setting up my 1820m with renoise and did not think they would work together, but ive sorted everything now and they do run very well together im running on 1-5 latency very smoothly no glitches erc,

Could you show us a screenshot of your Hardware IRQ, its located:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information,

Then in there click hardware then IRQ,

Also go into bios and turn of your SATA RAID Controller,

Are you using SATA HDD?

Also try turning off write caching.

What chipset have you got? Are you using SLI?

I could think of another 100 problems it could be but we will start with these.

Did i also mention that you might have the wrong board for the 1820,Have you got the 1820m or the 1820?

Read this thread this is me when i had loads of problems but its all sorted now,
