Automap Internal Renoise Effects?

i just after long time, used my nocturn controller again, but either im doing something wrong,or its not supported

but i cant seem to controll the internal renoise effetcs with the nocturn??

if its not me doing something wrong and its not supported

it would be cool if it would be possible

EDIT:also another thing

when i assign a parameter lets say from dblue stretch 2 in ableton, the automation gets recorded just fine, but it doesent in renoise??

what do you guys think?

its possible to do what you want, but possibly automap is getting in the way. you could try this:

  • set automap to send regular midi data; ie. specific midi #cc for each control.
  • right click in renoise and click the option to set midi controls - enter the relevant #cc for each control.

you should definitely be able to do it this way. if you want it to work with the actual automap thing… i’m not sure about that, i actually hate the automap thing so i have it switched off and just sending normal midi #cc all the time.

i see what you mean now from the other post about recording automation… not sure about that?

I think i’ll have another beer.

thanks didnt knew that, will try it out

EDIT:btw genfu, could you be more specific about how i set this up?i have never used midi #cc before

Okay:

First note I am using Automap 3 - this is a free update from the website, not Automap Pro which you have to pay for (screw that!)

  1. Setup renoise to recieve MIDI from the Automap drivers:

  1. Fiddle with the nocturn until you get a screen like this:

this took me a while, the automap software baffles me. But i managed to do it by hitting the ‘user’ button and clicking around abit. Before that I had some weird pro-tools map or something (i don’t even have pro-tools). I normally have a saved template which has my midi mapping on so I just load that up, but in this case i didn’t do that. The point of this mode is that you can click on any of the controls and assign a MIDI #cc number to it. If you want use the crossfader you will need to do this as it does not have one by default (why?). Anyway, the above is what you want the automap software to show you. note the #cc numbers by the controls.

  1. I’ve added a chorus, i’m going to set dial 4 on the nocturn to control the chorus rate. Right click down by the chorus anywhere along the bottom or on the chorus itself. Select the midi mapping option:

  1. You can now click on any control with an orange bar on it, and assign it to a MIDI control. Or you can manually input the MIDI number yourself. So either click the chorus rate and twist dial 4 on the nocturn, or else enter cc# as ‘3’ - since this is the cc# it shows us on the automap software for this dial.

Note that in the picture, it says MIDI Channel 1. That’s okay, because in my Nocturn settings, it says its sending MIDI on channels 1, 2, 3 and 4. Go Automap>Settings>Midi Channel to check this or change the channels if necessary.

And thats it, you can control parameters renoise. Note that you can only have one parameter in renoise per control on the nocturn, if you select another control with the same channel it will erase the previous one.

  1. To record automation: simply hit play and record, and have the scroll option checked. Tested it and it works fine.

hope that helps… see the renoise midi tutorials for more info.

grab us one if you’re going to the fridge then :P

EDIT:just rightclicked save as,thanks alot genfu this will help me ALOT :D

ok i just tried it,and i can assign the midi cc# just fine, but when i move a knob on my nocturn the slider i just assigned doesent move??
