May I suggest automation with the instrument editor?
Eg: Load a snare sample. Create a snare roll over 4 bars.
Hit (F1) to go to instrument editor.
Turn on the Volume envelopes.
Have the first point at the top left hand corner, and a second point at the bottom, so it slides the volume down very quickly.
Automate it so that I can change that second point to rise over 4 bars.
(I know you can do this using effect 07xx, but would it be possible to automate this visually?)
